Honeycomb packing material from IKEA flat-packed furniture.
While on holiday in the family house in Grezzo, northern Italy, I made a quick experiment filming this material. In order to get a neutral background I placed the stacked assembly into a black box.
This material is essentially architectural in nature, where its cells are exposed along its cut edges, forming rhythms of structure. Stacked vertically, building forms are quickly conjured, and the depth of their facades provide an opportunity for light and shadow to activate these elevations.
